Norm's Story

Di's Story

I’m a retired Director of Engineering at two Fortune 500 consumer product corporations and was the Director of Engineering of a start-up computer peripherals corporation. Prior to that, I was an R&D Manager and a Senior Research Engineer, during which time I acquired 11 patents.

I’m a graduate of Widener University (formerly Pa. Military College when I attended) with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. I served 2 years as a 1st Lt. infantry officer and am a graduate of the Army Basic Infantry Officer School and the Airborne School. I attended one year at Ohio University Journalism School in Athens, Ohio.

I’m a widower and was married for forty-nine years to my wonderful wife, Jacqueline. We were best friends for fifty years. I have one surviving daughter and four grandchildren. I currently live in Northern New Jersey about thirty miles northwest of New York City.

As a widower, I divide my time between writing, reading, and music composing. I find that keeping as busy as possible helps pass all the days without Jackie. Although I’m now several weeks into my 93rd birthday, I find creative activities keep me in a twenties frame of mind and I’m always looking ahead to new challenges.

I’ve written and self-published two Novellas, three books of poems, and two children’s books. I’m currently working on the 2nd draft of my first two novels for publication in November and December 2023.

In addition to being the co-author of Forever Ones, I am also an artist. Some of the illustrations in this book are mine. Prior to my retirement from advertising sales and book marketing, I am fluent in Spanish and now teach English as a Second Language to international business executives.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Mount Holyoke College summa cum laude with a special major in Bilingual Education, Spanish, and Anthropology.

My business and teaching careers began in Colombia, South America, followed by work as a bilingual teacher in the Boston area, where I collaborated in bilingual education curriculum development.

For two decades, I was a top-ranking business professional in advertising sales, working in the publishing, education, and library markets, most notably at Library Journal and School Library Journal.

Before returning to teaching, I began my own publishing consulting service, working on numerous new business development projects for Tutor.com, The Nonprofit Times, Westchester Academic Library Directors Organization-WALDO, Marquis Who’s Who, Keesings World News Archive and IGI Global. At Rutgers University, I taught Business English and leadership development to international MBA students.

I hold a Certificate in Fundraising and Grant Writing and served as a board member and grant writer for the non-profit Community Development Corporation.
