Welcome to our historical-fantasy novel, The Lenape Indian Forever Ones. Our novel is the story of twelve-year-old Lenape Indian brother and sister twins, Bold Eagle and Fierce Falcon. As the result of a simple test, the twins, our protagonists, are transformed into the first human Forever Ones who are endowed with powerful magic, and will never age beyond their eighteenth birthday. Though they will remain ageless, they are not invincible and must rely upon their powerful magic, their wits, and years of specialized training to protect themselves from their enemies.

In the year 1615, twelve-year-old Lenape Indian brother and sister twins, Chimi Chauch [Little Bear] and Chimi Mamalis [Little Fawn], along with four twelve-year-old village friends, begin their first vision quests. They must survive alone, for four days and nights, in the primeval Pineland forest of southern Lenapehoking (present day New Jersey) with no food or daytime water. During the moderately harsh vision quest, they are given new, adult  names: Bold Eagle and Fierce Falcon by their lifelong protective animal spirits.

When they return, all six are tested by Chief Fearless Wolf, leader of the ‘Matekanis’ Little People. This test is masterminded by the all-knowing, all-powerful ‘Great Mother Tree,’ a giant oak tree, daughter of the first tree on earth—the Lenape Creation Tree. She works with the Little Peoples’ chief telepathically to select the first human Forever Ones. She must use these special humans for generations to come, to fight for her three missions: (1) to defend her Lenape people and their Lenapehoking homeland; (2) to preserve ancient Lenape traditions, values, and oral history from the pressures of an un-ending stream of European colonists who seek their assimilation; (3) and to combat irreversible climate change in centuries to come.

Using sap-coated splinters from the Great Mother Tree, Chief Fearless Wolf pricks the fingers of the six pre-teens. They wait as the tree sap ‘blood’ mixes with their human blood. Then, only the twins, Bold Eagle and Fierce Falcon begin an agonizing transformation, becoming the first human Forever Ones to become eternal eighteen-year-old teenagers.

For the next six years, they receive intense, telepathic training from the Great Mother Tree as she prepares them for their missions. During these dramatic transformations, She gives them powerful magic for their own protection and to help their fellow Lenape Indians defend themselves from hostile Indian tribes, European colonists’ land grabs, the American army, and powerful politicians forcing them to leave their ancient homelands, and continually move westward.

Bold Eagle and Fierce Falcon will forever be young adults with all the tools they need to protect themselves from myriad challenges throughout the tumultuous 17th and 18th centuries.

The novel ends just before the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor beginning America’s entry into World War II.
